Olynda came to yoga after many years of studying dance and Capoeira. Being a spiritual seeker and a physical mover she was drawn to yoga because of its ability to integrate the physical and the spiritual. She was moved to study Anusara in depth because of the transformations she experienced through this clear and elegant system. Already a certified Hatha yoga teacher (since 2003), she completed John Friend’s level 1 Teacher Training in 2005, his level 2 Teacher Training in 2008 and is currently a certified Anusara-inspired teacher actively working toward full Anusara certification.  Olynda creates a nurturing and empowering space for students to discover and celebrate their strength, wisdom and beauty.


Class Description


    In this class we will explore the alignment principles of Anusara while moving through a variety of poses. Through the practice we will connect consciously to the breath and to our bodies.  We will develop our self-awareness, and discover how we can transform ourselves on all levels through this powerful practice.  Depending on the theme of the day we will have a specific focus in our physical practice -  arm balances, back bends, hip openers, twists or restoratives are all examples.  Students will be offered options and will be encouraged to find their own edge in each pose.  Olynda's fluid teaching style blends Tantric philosophy, precise physical alignment, and playfulness to inspire the ability to step beyond perceived limitations.
