What initially sparked my interest in Yoga, was a deep inner yearning to know myself, to know in my heart that life meant much more than “fitting in and getting ahead”. To be extremely honest, I went through periods of time where I felt very alone, frustrated and scared, and Yoga became a way for me to experience peace, to understand the process of this life and my role in its unfolding.
I began practicing yoga in 1999 and I became certified in 2007. Although life continues to be the greatest teacher of all, I have been exposed to some extraordinary teachers, techniques and styles, and I feel so blessed to have trained and practiced with some of the most outstanding teachers in the west. The four whose influence most colors the way I teach are; Mark Whitwell: http://heartofyoga.com/markwhitwellbio who gets to the core of what Yoga is, relationship (union), he clarifies with profound passion the relevance of this ancient wisdom in our contemporary life. Saul David Raye: www.thaiyoga.com/saul/saul.html his teachings are simple, powerful and accessible, allowing people to connect more deeply with their own authentic spirit. Ted Grand & Jessica Robertson: www.mokshayoga.ca/tt-faculty.htm taught me that Yoga is not just a vehicle for personal transformation, but perhaps more importantly, a planetary one.
The classes I teach are for everyone. We utilize simple repetitious Yoga postures set to soulful music with a strong emphasis on breathing, relaxation & meditation. This Yoga practice is incredibly rejuvenating, it opens the heart, keeps the body strong and toned, and leaves you feeling both physically and emotionally nourished.
I continue to allow Yoga to reveal itself to me through the practice of asana, kirtan, meditation & Self-inquiry; it is the ability to shift ones perspective of life that I find most fascinating. Yoga can be as constant and changing as the clouds in the sky, but the awareness that comes from its discipline, opens the doorway to our compassionate, forgiving and authentic nature. I look forward to meeting you soon.
